AIRPORT and SHUTTLE SERVICE OPTIONS

Considering your departing city, the airline that you are flying, and whether or not you are renting a car, you have a few options. 

Option 1

The Hyatt Regency is 5 minutes from the John Wayne Airport (Code SNA).  There is a free shuttle from the airport to the hotel.  If you go to the shuttle bus area, the Hyatt Regency shuttle bus comes every half hour on the fifteen minute mark and the forty-five minute mark. 

Option 2

Depending on where you are located, you may find flying into the Los Angeles Airport (Code LAX) to be less expensive.  LAX Airport is about 40 miles from Irvine, but a 1 to 1.5 hours drive, depending on traffic when you arrive.  If you are planning on renting a car anyway, this may be your best option.  See below for additional public transportation options from LAX.

Public Transportation from LAX to Hyatt Regency

  1. "Shared van" service from Super Shuttle (supershuttle.com) or Prime Time Shuttle (redvans.com).  Both of these vans pull up in front of each terminal at LAX under the ORANGE OVERHEAD SIGN that says "Shared Ride Vans" that is just outside of your terminal over one of the "traffic islands" in the roadway ahead of you.

    Sample fare from LAX to the Hyatt Regency in Irvine is $35.  Although the ride doesn't take more than 45 minutes or so (depending on traffic), count on it taking between 1-1/2 hours to 2 hours since you will have to wait for the van to fill up and it might stop to pick up or drop off other passengers on the way to your destination.
  2. Disneyland Express Bus -- this bus departs LAX for Disneyland every 30 minutes on the hour and the half hour (during the day) and also departs Disneyland for John Wayne Airport (adjacent to Irvine) every 30 minutes on the 1/4 hour and the 3/4 hour.  You would have to transfer at Disneyland to the second bus and then take the free hotel shuttle.

    The ROUND TRIP fare for the TWO bus rides (when the coupon on the Disneyland Express's website is used) is $49 so the cost ONE WAY would be $24.50.  Count on about 1 hour and 45 minutes for the trip.
  3. Public bus service. This is a lot cheaper option but requires riding three different conveyances:
    1. Take the UNION STATION FLYAWAY BUS that will pull up in front of your terminal every 30 minutes.  The bus will pull up under the GREEN OVERHEAD SIGNS that say "Flyaway Buses and Long Distance Vans".  ($3 fare, 30-45 minute ride)
    2. Transfer to the Union Rail Station (adjacent to the bus depot) and take the next amtrak (amtrak.com) or metrolink (metrolinktrains.com) train to Santa Ana.  ($12 fare, 50 minute ride)
    3. Take the free shuttle to the hotel.
Total fare: $15 (About 2 hours to 2 hours and 15 minutes).  This is probably the beter choice as it is medium-priced but involves a comfortable ride.

Option 3

Long Beach Airport (Code LGB) is about 17 miles from Irvine.  There are a few options from LGB to Irvine.  Again, you could rent a car.  There are also some shuttle services:

TAXIS

Taxis are always available and waiting at the airport ground transportation area.  Typically, no need for reservation.  The taxi rates are as follows:

To/From John Wayne Airport is approximately $10.
To/From LAX is approximately $140.

PARKING AT THE HOTEL

Overnight self-parking at the hotel is currently discounted to attendees to $8.00 per day.  You can go in and out of the lot as much as you want.  If you valet park, the rate is $18 per day, and we do not have a discount.  You can also go in and out of the lot as much as you want.  Day of attendees will be discounted to $5.00 for self and $11 for valet (per day).
